Booker T. Washington High School is celebrating its 80th year. Everyone is invited to attend the free community fun day on Saturday, Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m., 1201 S. Roman St., New Orleans.
Highlights will include food, entertainment and fun for the entire family.
A brief program will begin at 12:30 p.m. which will include remarks from school leaders and alumni, along with student performances. Also on hand to attend are Representative Royce Duplessis and New Orleans Councilmember Lesli Harris.
Built in 1942, Booker T. Washington High School, has a long, rich and storied heritage in the city of New Orleans. The campus was the first new high school built specifically for black students in New Orleans.
