Booker T. Washington

Booker T. Washington High School is a school that believes in meeting students where they are. Our bar is high, but we also recognize that our students need an innovative and responsive way to learn the material. Here, we deeply value the cultural knowledge they bring to the classroom and work hard to bridge home life and academics.

Booker T. Washington High School celebrated its 80th anniversary with a building rededication ceremony at its campus recently. The event was attended by esteemed guest speakers, alumni, current students, and members of the community.

The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a tour of the building, and a reception.
Built in 1942, Booker T. Washington High School has been a cornerstone of the New Orleans community for decades. It was the first vocational school and the first public high school serving black students in the city.
